wanderings

In both offline and online worlds I have been wandering a bit. Started a new job and quit my old one, so I haven't been around much while doing training and long shifts. Getting used to it though and like it. Online, I haven't had too much time but spent some nice time with Bebe last week in SL and it was nice to see her back.  We were talking about finding some alternative worlds to hang in (due to our Doomsday intuitions) but there's not a lot out there other than OS Grid, so I guess that's that. I had fun one afternoon with a MMO called The Secret World, might hang onto that one too. Really nice graphics and story lines.

This is a pretty detailed storyline and has a lot more flexibility in character and story than most MMO. There are no specific races or paths you need to follow but rather quite a selection and the whole basis is free will.  You start off choosing one of three basic groups, but what you do with it beyond that is based on decisions you make on weapons and locations and tasks completed. The 3 classes are Illuminati, Templar and Dragon.

This is me inside the police station area, which has been cordoned off, in a town called Kingston. Strange monsters have overtaken the city, brought in by the fog.

Police station behind me. Hey you gotta venture out some time.

There's a familiar sight, zombies! WOOOT. I noticed right off in the game also that there's a lot of Stephen King references. The sheriff's last name, for instance, is Bannerman. Many of the NPC's you come across have names that were also used in King stories. There is a job you have to do, to locate missing townspeople. they have last names like "Creed" (i.e. Pet Sematary).

Go down in the sewers? Yah..sounds like a great idea right? LOL

About to be attacked by a zombie. Don't worry about the owl, he's with me. For weapons I chose pistols and "elemental forces" after examining the character wheels and discovering you can get specific rewards for certain weapons achievements. For those two, at a certain level, you get some "gunslinger" rewards.

I got stuck on a quest where you have to follow ravens around town for this crazy gypsy palm-reader lady. I only get so far and can't find the damn birds. And, with such limited time maybe I will open it up again soon..like next month! Good game, though.

A little concerning to us oldies in SL is the sudden appearance of cheap-looking ad banners on your dashboard page...

New Home

I am so pleased with the Cielo Drive house that I'm living in it. Some photos:

Bebe's Treehouse gives it our own flair :D
Front lawn, bloodstains and all. I keep being indecisive about the murder scene version vs. the "clean" version, but the blood is fun.
Landscaping has been interesting so far. The house, in RL, really did sit on a flattened out chunk of a hill in Benedict canyon. So, Jericho Hill has truly become a giant hill, with a meandering path down to the hockey rink area.
Abigial Folger's bedroom. I'm collecting retro furniture where possible to give it the 1960's feel. I found some nice retro stuff today at Lisp.
A forbidding hallway.
Do I look guilty?
A colorful guest bedroom (where the maid's bedroom was).
Included ferns on the plant shelf, which Sharon Tate always kept full.
More of the living room.

I turned the bar area into a piano alcove.
Scene from above, in the loft area.
This is off the kitchen in the maid's area. Decorated with some eerie furniture and props I found at Lisp.
An overview of the hill and path.

10050 Cielo Drive (New Offering)

10050 Cielo Drive. An infamous address, to be sure. Located in Benedict Canyon of Los Angelos, the home was built in 1942 for actress Michele Morgan. The house was Home for celebrities over the years including Carey Grant, Henry Fonda, Candace Bergen, Dyan Cannon, and the band Paul Revere and the Raiders. The house gained its notoriety, however, by being home to Sharon Tate and Roman Polanski in 1969. On a hot August night, serial killer Charles Manson sent a band of hippie followers known as The Family to the home, where they brutally murdered Sharon and 4 other people.

The house no longer stands--its last resident was Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, who recorded the album The Downward Spiral at the house. Currrently, there exists in the spot what is known as a "Hollywood McMansion."
This version of 10050 Cielo Drive is a combination of mesh, prim and sculpts. **YOU MUST HAVE A MESH-ENABLED VIEWER TO ENJOY IT.**

The house comes in two versions. The normal, or "clean" version, is a lovely family home. Three bedrooms, large walk-ins, a kidney-shaped pond. A beautiful, airy loft in the living room with dormer windows on two sides. Oversized rooms and windows for great views and lots of space.

The house is very wide, though narrow, so it will require a large plot. The footprint is 133 meters x 49 meters. So, it is best suited on a 1/4 sim or more.
The house is unfurnished, except for an included mesh couch with built-in sitting animations, which resembles the couch in the infamous crime-scene photos (with the American flag draped across the back.)The house comes in an easy Rez-Box.

Mesh paths, hedges and kidney-shaped pond are included. I highly recommend situating it on the side of a large hill (with the house area flattened) to resemble Benedict canyon.

A new item from Jericho Hill.
